The play!!!!

I am really excited!!! I am directing the play for Okanogan High School, and we perform this upcoming week, which means that it will be a BUSY and long week, but rewarding :)
The show is All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten, and it's based on the book of the same title by Robert Fulghum, who happens to be a Seattle-based author.
I got the idea to do this show from my GOOD friend Susan Gubsch who is now the director for the drama program at Cashmere High School (my old gig). They just performed this show this past fall.
We have a talented bunch of kids involved in this show! They are such positive kids, too, lots of fun to be around :)
Our rehearsals have ALL been filled with some of the silliest moments that are full of uncontrollably laughter (and even some snorts, ahem).
Directing again reminds me of how much I missed drama!!!
This show is so poignant! It really is about all the important lessons in life, that we learned back in Kindergarten, but often forget when we become grown-ups.
It's really summed up well in the...
Kindergarten Creed
Share.
Play fair.
Don’t hit people.
Don’t take things that don’t belong to you.
If you hurt someone, say you’re sorry.
Clean up your own mess.
Wash your hands before you eat.
Hold hands and stick together when you cross the street.
Flush.
Live a balanced life.
Be aware of wonder.
LOOK.
Hope to see you there! Thursday, Friday, Saturday at 7 p.m., and a matinee on Sunday at 1 p.m. Tickets are available at Grandma's Attic and Rawson's.

Momentous!

Today, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Tomorrow, Obama is inaguarated as our 44th President of the United States.
We've come a long way, and our journey is still going. Just imagine what life will be like for our grandchildren's grandchildren. CRAZY!
I enjoyed watching the We are the One: The Obama Inaguaral Celebration at the Lincoln Memorial last night. What an incredible cast of people involved from Stevie Wonder to U2 to Martin Luther King III to Samuel Jackson, and everyone in between, it truly rocked and resonnated that we are at a moment of change.
It did crack me up that the the Obama's youngest daughter was besides herself every time she saw herself on the television monitor! So real, right? I wonder how long it will take before it will be old hat?
Equally amusing was the little girl directly behind Obama, his neice, who was asleep for most of the concert. LOL. When you need a nap, you need a nap! That just feels so real.
SO, as you have the day off today, think about what our world was like only 40 years ago. Be a part of making it a better place.

Winner!!!

SO, funny thing happened on the way to the forum. Well, actually we were leaving Rawson's right before Christmas and feeling disappointed because we couldn't find cowboy riding chaps that we wanted to get Rick for Christmas.
As we get into the car and start to drive away, we hear an advertisement on the radio for some competition called Guess What's in the Box, and it was listing participating businesses that included Detro's.
AHHHH, HA! So, we drove right out to Detro's (forgot they were there), and we found exactly what we were looking for. So, I told the owner about hearing the ad on the radio, just because I thought it would be nice for him to know that the radio ad we heard brought us directly to the store!! He did appreciate it :)
So, I entered my name into the box.
Fast forward to after Christmas. Well, Rick needed a different size for his chaps, and so we had to go back out to Detro's.
While out there, I entered both Rick and me into the box again.
Fast forward to last week. Rick comes home on Wednesday freaking out because he won tickets to the Wrangler Professional Bullriding competition in Spokane next weekend. BUT, what was funny is that he had NO idea how he won!! I had to remind him that I entered us at Detro's, LOL!!
He ended up with four tickets, and so we are going this next Friday, and we are taking Rick's oldest son and friend!!! It's gonna be fun.
YUP, we are winners!!! Woo hoo!!

Feeling inspired!

OK, so I don't have time to actually do the things that are percolating in my brain right now, but I am just feeling soooo inspired right now to make a bunch of my ideas come alive.
Of course, I have to wait until February, as this month is crazy with the play at the high school...but, that gives me time to really think about things.
My inspiration has come from people who don't even know they have inspired me. I will, of course, give them credit as I am building these projects into reality.
Stop, look, and listen around you. There is so much creativity it's incredible. MANALIVE :)

Gross, I know, and other personal tidbits, SIGH

I have an ear zit. A zit in the ear. I have had it for a week, and it is TERRIBLE. It's so painful, and next to impossible to get to, and today, my entire ear is hurting and I am even experiencing some hearing issues.
I feel like my ear is plugged. Ya know, when you have to yawn to make it pop, but yawning doesn't do anything.
I think I have had one of these before (a long time ago), but not this bad.
And, I am sitting here thinking...why does a 37-year-old have to deal with this???
Since we are on strange health topics, I have also have an eye twitch in my left eye, that concidentally, I have also had for a week.
At least, that I know is related to being tired.
There you have it...WAY more than you needed to know, LOL!

To MYSPACE or not?

OK, so the title is a LITTLE misleading, in that I do MYSPACE, and I have for a long time.
But, one of my VERY good friends decided to leave Myspace for an exclusive relationship with Facebook (her words).
I had, in fact, created a Facebook profile in 2007, but had not kept it up. So, in order to keep in touch with my friend, which we did lots of talking on Myspace, I was forced to revisit Facebook.
Now, that I am up and going on Facebook, I am glad. I have reconnected with LOTS of friends from high school!! More than I have on Myspace.
It's kind of a pain to create a new profile there, especially when my one on Myspace is really update. I wish there was just a quick button that would transfer everything from my Myspace to Facebook. That would be nifty.
Some observations about Facebook...It definitely seems like an older group of users in general, whereas Myspace seems a little younger.
But, I do like some of the options for design and whatnot on Myspace that Facebook doesn't have.
For now, I feel like Facebook is a little less creative.
I guess I will be like a person who lives bi-coastal...two homes, one on Myspace and the other Facebook, for now.
Everyone swears that I will eventually move permanently over to Facebook, and I am starting to see why.
